About Stripe Fee Calculator
What is the Stripe Fee Calculator?
The Stripe Fee Calculator helps you determine how much you'll pay in processing fees when accepting payments through Stripe. It also calculates the amount you should charge to receive a specific net amount after fees.
Stripe Fee Structure
Stripe charges a percentage-based fee plus a fixed fee per transaction:
| Region | Standard Rate | Per Transaction |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 2.9% | + $0.30 |
| Europe (EEA) | 1.5% | + €0.25 |
| United Kingdom | 1.5% | + £0.20 |
| Australia | 1.75% | + A$0.30 |
| Canada | 2.9% | + C$0.30 |
How Fees Are Calculated
Standard Fee Calculation:
Fee = (Transaction Amount × Percentage) + Fixed Fee
Example: For a $100 transaction in the US:
- Percentage Fee: $100 × 2.9% = $2.90
- Fixed Fee: $0.30
- Total Fee: $2.90 + $0.30 = $3.20
- Net Amount: $100 - $3.20 = $96.80
Calculating Amount to Charge
To receive a specific net amount, use this formula:
Charge Amount = (Desired Net + Fixed Fee) ÷ (1 - Percentage Rate)
Example: To receive exactly $100 after fees:
- ($100 + $0.30) ÷ (1 - 0.029) = $100.30 ÷ 0.971 = $103.30
- Stripe Fee: $103.30 × 2.9% + $0.30 = $3.30
- Net Amount: $103.30 - $3.30 = $100.00 ✓
